As soon as a chemical reaction starts, reactants are being converted into products. As this happens, reactants decrease and products increase. The reaction stops as soon as 1 reactant runs out. The first reactant to run out is the limiting reactant. The reactant(s) left over is/are the excess reactants. To learn how to find the limiting and excess reactant, watch the following videos.
