Thermodynamics has to do with the transfer of heat and energy. Many times chemical reactions (including acid and base reactions) cause either the release or absorption of energy. In thermodynamics, we want to know HOW MUCH energy is either released or absorbed. Chemical bonds contain potential energy (sometimes lots). There are two types of chemical reactions to consider which are the following: Exothermic Reactions and Endothermic Reactions.
