Le Chatelier's Principle

  • Half-Life: The time it takes for ½ (50%) of a the radioactive nuclei to decay. Half-life measures the radioactive decay rate.
  • The half-life is different for every substance.
  • The original isotope is called the parent, the isotope after decay is called the daughter isotope.
  • We can use this to calculate the amount of a substance that is left after a given period of time.
